Job Title

CPU Verification Fellow, RISC-V High-Performance Processor

Role Summary

Lead verification strategy and execution for next-generation high-performance RISC-V CPUs. The role partners with architecture, RTL, firmware, compiler, performance modeling, and validation teams to deliver CPU designs from early development through tapeout and post-silicon validation.

This is a hybrid role based out of Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX, focused on scalable verification methodology across simulation, formal, emulation, FPGA prototyping, and silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Senior (Fellow). This is a technical leadership role; Tenstorrent may assess and place candidates at the appropriate seniority during the interview process.

Responsibilities

Accountable for verification strategy, execution, and leadership for high-performance superscalar CPUs.

  • Define and own verification strategy for out-of-order, speculative, superscalar microarchitectures and CPU subsystems.
  • Design and scale test plans, constrained-random environments, checkers, assertions, scoreboards, and coverage goals.
  • Verify frontend, branch prediction, rename, scheduling, execution, load-store, memory ordering, cache hierarchy, retirement, exceptions, interrupts, debug, and coherency interactions.
  • Drive verification across simulation, formal, emulation, FPGA prototyping, and silicon bring-up to achieve tapeout readiness and post-silicon validation.
  • Mentor and lead senior engineers; establish best practices across the CPU verification organization.
  • Coordinate cross-functional bug triage, root-cause analysis, and coverage closure with architecture, SoC, firmware, and compiler teams.

Requirements

Technical and leadership qualifications required to perform the role.

Must-have:

  • Extensive experience verifying high-performance superscalar CPUs, including out-of-order and speculative designs.
  • Deep understanding of RISC-V ISA, privileged architecture, virtual memory, atomics, vector extensions, and memory model behavior.
  • High proficiency in SystemVerilog, UVM, constrained-random verification, assertions, functional coverage, and advanced debug methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with CPU reference models, instruction generators, ISS-based checking, or differential testing.
  • Practical experience with formal verification and large-scale CPU verification environments across simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping, and silicon.
  • Proven ability to lead verification planning and mentor senior engineers across teams.
  • Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology (employment may be contingent on citizenship/permanent residency or ability to obtain required licenses).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with CPU performance modeling, microarchitecture design, or compiler/firmware interactions for verification.
  • Experience with bring-up on FPGA prototypes and post-silicon validation workflows.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
