Job Title
CPU Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join AMD's Cores organization to verify high-performance CPU cores and cache subsystems for server, client, and gaming processors. The role focuses on functional verification, infrastructure development, test development, and cross-discipline coordination for next-generation microprocessor designs.
Experience Level
Senior — requires significant industry experience; posting specifies 10+ years of verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include verification planning, developing test infrastructure, and executing verification campaigns across block and full-chip levels.
- Lead and execute functional verification of high-speed microprocessor designs at behavioral RTL and gate levels across SoC, core and block hierarchies.
- Design and maintain verification environments, simulation infrastructure, and testbenches for stand-alone blocks and full-chip verification.
- Develop, run, and debug x86 assembly directed tests and random exercisers; integrate C/C++/Perl/assembly tests into verification flows.
- Analyze functional and code coverage metrics; create or modify tests to meet coverage goals.
- Drive deliverables and dependencies with RTL, DFT, implementation, and manufacturing teams; support cross-site collaboration.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for day‑to‑day success; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven experience in ASIC/IP level verification with strong RTL verification skills.
- Expertise in Verilog HDL and SystemVerilog and experience with logic simulation and debug tools.
- Programming and scripting proficiency (x86 assembly, C/C++, Perl, shell; Ruby and Makefile advantageous).
- Experience developing verification environments, directed tests, random exercisers, and automation infrastructure.
- Strong debugging skills and familiarity with coverage-driven verification methodologies.
- Ability to work on complex designs, interact with cross-functional teams, and communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.
- Nice-to-have: experience with clock/reset blocks in SoC, DFT/JTAG/BIST/scan structures, and prior microprocessor verification projects; exposure to leadership or mentorship.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is specified. The posting also specifies 10+ years of verification experience. No certifications were listed.
