CPU Validation Tool Architect

Role Summary

Design and develop validation and debug tools for new CPU features within the CPU Validation team. Work with CPU architecture and platform teams to ensure test effectiveness, coverage, and tool performance for next-generation CPU designs.

Experience Level

Level - Mid-Career. Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in software development and CPU/system or PC platform architecture and validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

• Analyze CPU functional block architecture to define tool requirements and design.
• Design, implement and maintain validation and debug tools for CPU features.
• Ensure tools provide required coverage and integrate with qualification flows.
• Follow software development and test/QA processes to produce high-quality tools.
• Profile and optimize tool performance and efficiency.
• Innovate to improve validation effectiveness, test productivity and coverage measurement.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

• Proven software development experience for validation tools, test automation, or similar systems.
• Strong programming and scripting skills: C++, C#, Python, and assembly-level coding.
• Experience with CPU system or PC platform architecture and validation methodologies (practical validation experience).
• Strong debugging, problem solving, and performance optimization skills.
• Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with coverage measurement, QA processes, and tool performance tuning.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
