Job Title

CPU Server Physical Design Methodology, Infrastructure and Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Implement and maintain physical-design infrastructure, methodology, and automation for next-generation CPU server designs. Work with implementation, CAD, methodology and STA teams to deliver infrastructure, dashboards, and automation that improve timing, power, and area signoff flows.

Experience Level

Senior level. Preferred ~10+ years practical experience; minimum qualifications allow as little as 1–2 years depending on degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on infrastructure, automation, analytics, and cross-functional support for CPU physical design projects.

  • Collaborate with PD, CAD, Methodology, and STA teams to design and deploy infrastructure and dashboards across multiple CPU designs and domains.
  • Support block-level implementation teams to analyze and improve optimization methods affecting timing, power, and area.
  • Develop automation and prediction models for rapid timing, power, and area estimation.
  • Create tooling and visualizations to surface design bottlenecks and productivity metrics.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Experience with synthesis, place-and-route, and signoff timing/power analysis using industry EDA flows.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (TCL, Python, Perl). Web/visualization skills (HTML/JS/CSS) are useful for dashboards.
  • Ability to analyze metrics, identify root causes, and implement scalable productivity improvements.
  • Strong software/programming skills to represent complex data and integrate automation into flows.
  • Effective cross-functional communication with implementation and CAD teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (with 2+ years relevant experience); OR Master's degree in those fields (with 1+ year relevant experience); OR PhD in a related technical field. Preferred listing also mentions an MS in Electrical Engineering and extensive practical experience (~10 years). Equivalent practical experience is accepted per the listed minimum qualifications.
