Job Title

CPU RTL Methodology Engineer

Role Summary

Work at the intersection of RTL design and CAD automation to improve CPU RTL development workflows. Support CPU design teams by triaging RTL issues, maintaining RTL databases, and building automation and CI tools to increase design and debug productivity.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 4+ years of relevant engineering experience; specific minimums depend on degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include supporting RTL development and building automation for design and verification workflows.

  • Define and develop methodologies for scalable, efficient CPU RTL designs.
  • Support RTL development and debug workflows across CPU teams; triage and resolve RTL issues.
  • Maintain RTL databases and repositories using GIT and related tools.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (primarily Python) to improve RTL workflows, verification, and regression systems.
  • Interface with CAD teams to align RTL tooling with design infrastructure.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and build systems for RTL environments.
  • Document workflows, tools, and best practices for internal teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role effectively.

  • Strong RTL design skills (Verilog/SystemVerilog) and understanding of CPU microarchitecture.
  • Experience with RTL databases and version control (GIT).
  • Proven ability to triage RTL issues and support design/debug workflows.
  • Advanced Python scripting; familiarity with TCL, Perl, or Bash is a plus.
  • Experience with CAD tools and automation frameworks in hardware design environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and build systems for RTL environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication with engineering teams.

Education Requirements

Qualifications reference a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum experience varies by degree: Bachelor's +6 years, Master's +5 years, PhD +4 years; equivalent practical experience may be considered where specified.
