CPU RTL Design - Sr Lead
QualcommJob Title
CPU RTL Design - Sr Lead
Role Summary
Hands-on RTL and micro‑architecture engineer responsible for designing and delivering CPU core IP for high‑performance processors. Work on one or more pipeline domains and own end‑to‑end RTL implementation that will be taped out in silicon.
Collaborate with architecture, design verification, physical design, post‑silicon, power and performance teams to drive performance, power, and area trade‑offs based on real data.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5–12 years of CPU design experience (senior engineers with relevant experience are welcome).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, and optimize CPU core micro‑architecture.
- Own end‑to‑end RTL in one or more domains: Fetch, Decode, Rename, Execute, Vector, Load‑Store, Memory Management.
- Write and deliver production‑ready, high‑quality RTL for silicon.
- Drive performance, power, and area trade‑offs using measurement and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with Architecture, DV, Physical Design, Post‑Silicon, Power and Performance teams.
- Debug, optimize, and analyze performance of RTL implementations.
Requirements
Must‑have skills and experience:
- Strong fundamentals in CPU micro‑architecture and RTL design.
- Deep expertise in one or more pipeline stages (front‑end or back‑end).
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and RTL coding best practices.
- Proven experience debugging and optimizing RTL for performance and efficiency.
- Proven ability to deliver production RTL that meets quality and silicon timelines.
- Experience working cross‑functionally with verification, physical design, silicon bring‑up, and performance teams.
Education Requirements
One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of hardware engineering or related experience; OR Master’s degree in those fields with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where specified by the degree/experience combinations above.
