CPU Pre-Silicon Verification Lead
Role Summary
Member of the Intel Core Design Team leading pre-silicon functional verification for CPU projects. Responsible for defining verification strategy, driving tool/flow/methodology initiatives, and delivering verification environments and test plans to achieve first-pass silicon quality.
Role combines technical leadership with people and project management to reduce validation cycle time and meet PRQ quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior - the posting specifies a Masters plus 15+ years relevant experience or a Bachelors plus 10+ years; expects proven technical leadership and managerial experience.
Responsibilities
Lead verification planning, execution, and team delivery.
- Define and drive verification strategy, tools, flows, and methodologies for pre-silicon validation.
- Create and maintain RTL verification test plans, system simulation models, and coverage plans.
- Develop and validate complex simulation/emulation environments and reusable verification components.
- Work directly with hardware architects and logic designers to influence SoC and system design for verifiability.
- Plan and allocate resources, manage schedules, and track deliverables to meet quality and timeline targets.
- Mentor and guide engineers; provide performance feedback and support employee development.
- Analyze failures, update testbenches/tests, and implement corrective actions to improve validation results.
Requirements

- Must have: Extensive pre-silicon verification experience and familiarity with CPU/processor verification.
- Must have: Strong RTL verification skills (Verilog, SystemVerilog), simulation and emulation, and use of debug tools (e.g., Verdi).
- Must have: Proficiency in scripting (Perl/Python) and working in Linux environments.
- Must have: Demonstrated technical leadership and experience managing verification teams and projects.
- Nice to have: Experience with integrated software/hardware environments, SVTB UVM or Specman (e), and coverage-driven verification.
- Other: Strong problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering with at least 15 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 10 years of relevant pre-silicon verification experience.
