Role Summary
Work within Apple's Silicon Engineering Group (SEG) on microarchitecture and RTL for CPU power management used across Apple products. The role focuses on architecture exploration, RTL implementation, verification support, and delivering designs that meet power, performance, area and timing goals.
Experience Level
Mid-level — 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include microarchitectural design, RTL ownership, verification support, performance exploration, and cross-functional delivery:
- Develop and specify micro-architecture from high-level exploration to detailed specification.
- Own RTL development, assessment and refinement to meet power, performance, area and timing objectives.
- Support verification efforts: testbench development, formal methods, simulation and emulation.
- Explore high-performance strategies and correlate RTL behavior with performance targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on timing, area, reliability, testability and power during design delivery.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience:
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience in microprocessor or silicon design.
- Experience with microprocessor architecture and logic design principles with timing and power considerations.
- Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL for RTL design.
- Experience with simulators, waveform debugging and standard verification flows.
- Knowledge of power, performance and area tradeoffs and optimization techniques.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with formal verification methods, emulation platforms, or close collaboration with physical design teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) required.
