CPU Physical Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
CPU Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Perform RTL-to-GDSII physical implementation for high-performance CPU designs, covering synthesis, place-and-route, clock-tree synthesis, timing closure, power and reliability signoff. Collaborate with logic, circuit, architecture, design-automation teams and EDA vendors to deliver manufacturable, high-speed, low-power CPU products.
This position requires on-site presence in Bangalore as part of a multi-disciplinary CPU design team.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically requires 3+ years of relevant physical-design experience.
Responsibilities
Execute and verify physical design flows and contribute to methodology and automation improvements.
- Implement physical design from RTL to GDSII: synthesis, floorplanning, placement, routing, and clock-tree synthesis.
- Perform static timing analysis, timing closure, and timing signoff flows.
- Analyze and optimize power distribution, power estimation, and multiple power-domain designs.
- Conduct reliability, power-integrity, signal-integrity, LVS/DRC, and layout/electrical verification.
- Perform formal equivalence checks and other verification required for signoff.
- Optimize designs for power, frequency, and area trade-offs.
- Work with EDA vendors to enhance tool capabilities for high-speed, low-power CPU development.
- Develop and improve physical-design methodologies and flow automation.
Requirements
Key technical must-haves and preferred skills.
- Hands-on experience with synthesis, placement, CTS, and routing tools; experience on Synopsys and Cadence toolchains.
- Proficiency in timing signoff, static timing analysis, and formal verification methodologies.
- Experience implementing low-power design techniques and analyzing multiple power domains.
- Knowledge of submicron process node technologies and layout verification (LVS/DRC).
- Experience with power estimation, power delivery methodologies, and power optimization.
Preferred:
- Scripting for automation using Tcl, Perl, or Python.
- Experience with Verilog or VHDL.
- Strong verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across geographies.
- Experience with feature feasibility studies and structured design-flow methodologies.
Education Requirements
B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. The posting specifies 3+ years of relevant experience.
