CPU Performance Architect
Role Summary
Join the SoC performance architecture team for next-generation client products. Research and improve methodologies and infrastructure for performance modeling and analysis, and drive ideas from models to productized features through cross-team collaboration.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum expected experience: B.Tech + 5 years, M.Tech + 3 years, or Ph.D. (with relevant internships).
Responsibilities
The role focuses on performance modeling, analysis, and collaboration to deliver measurable SoC improvements.
- Research and develop performance-modeling methodologies and infrastructure.
- Model proposed micro-architectural changes and analyze performance bottlenecks.
- Propose and quantify solutions for latency, bandwidth, and power constraints.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, and validation teams to productize features.
- Work with validation teams to ensure performance features meet product targets.
- Bring up and integrate simulators, performance/functional models, and workloads as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for immediate contribution.
- Expertise in computer architecture via coursework or projects, or strong understanding of algorithms or deep learning applied to architecture.
- Strong C++ or object-oriented programming skills.
- Experience in C++ or SystemC TLM modeling and performance analysis of complex SoCs.
- Experience with SoC sub-systems such as cache, memory, or fabric and their performance characteristics.
- Ability to analyze latency, bandwidth, and power trade-offs in performance models.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to scripting or RTL validation environments.
- Nice-to-have: experience integrating or bringing up performance/functional simulators and workloads.
Education Requirements
Minimum expected education: B.Tech (with ~5 years experience), M.Tech (~3 years), or Ph.D. Relevant fields include Computer Architecture, Computer Science, or related technical disciplines. Internships or equivalent practical experience in modeling, performance analysis, or SoC design are relevant.
