CPU Performance Architect
Intel CorporationJob Title
CPU Performance Architect
Role Summary
Join the SoC Performance Architecture team to drive performance modeling, analysis methodologies, and related infrastructure for next-generation client SoCs. Lead research and engineering efforts to translate concepts into architectural models and product-ready solutions, working closely with architecture, design, and validation teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience expected is in the 3β7 year range; this is an experienced-hire role.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain performance models for client SoCs and emerging microarchitectures.
- Design and implement performance modeling infrastructure and analysis methodologies.
- Model microarchitectures, identify performance bottlenecks, and propose data-driven optimizations.
- Lead and execute research initiatives and convert results into product-ready architectural models.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, and validation teams to ensure performance features meet latency, bandwidth, and power objectives.
- Integrate and bring up simulators, workloads, and analysis tools to validate performance expectations.
- Provide performance analysis and guidance across subsystems such as cache, memory, and fabric.
Requirements
Minimum technical skills and experience required. Distinguish must-have versus nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Strong C++ or object-oriented programming skills.
- Must-have: Expertise in computer architecture, or a strong foundation in algorithms or deep learning with a clear interest in applying those techniques to computer architecture.
- Must-have: Experience with C++/SystemC TLM modeling and performance analysis of complex SoCs (latency/bandwidth/power focus).
- Must-have: Practical experience with SoC subsystems such as cache, memory, or fabric.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to scripting or RTL validation environments.
- Nice-to-have: Experience bringing up or integrating functional/performance simulators and/or performing workload-driven analysis.
Education Requirements
Minimums indicated: B.Tech (with ~5+ years experience), M.Tech (~3+ years), or Ph.D. with relevant internships. Preferred fields include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical disciplines; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
