Job Title
CPU Microarchitect/RTL Engineer - Fetch, Out of Order
Role Summary
Work within Apple's Silicon Engineering Group on the microarchitecture and RTL implementation of CPU front-end and out-of-order subsystems for high-performance, low-power processors used across Apple products. The role covers microarchitectural exploration, RTL design and refinement, verification support, performance analysis, and cross-functional delivery to meet timing, power, area, and reliability targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level β minimum 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Drive micro-architecture development from high-level exploration to detailed specification for CPU front-end and out-of-order units.
- Own RTL development, assessment and refinement to achieve power, performance, area, and timing goals.
- Support verification teams with testbench development, formal methods, and simulation/emulation workflows.
- Perform performance exploration and correlate RTL behavior with performance targets alongside performance verification teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams for physical implementation concerns including timing closure, area, reliability, testability and power.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Practical experience with microprocessor architecture, preferably including CPU front-end or out-of-order subsystems.
- Strong digital/logic design skills with attention to timing and power trade-offs.
- Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL for RTL design.
- Experience using simulators and waveform-debugging tools.
- Hands-on experience supporting functional verification; familiarity with testbench development and formal techniques is beneficial.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree (BS). The posting specifies a BS degree requirement; no specific field of study or mention of equivalent experience was provided.
