CPU HVM Functional-Test Verification Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
CPU HVM Functional-Test Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the DFT verification team responsible for validating design-for-test (DFT) for manufacturing functional testing and delivering functional test content for next-generation CPU IP designs. Works closely with CPU design/architecture, SoC design, and manufacturing teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level - requires at least 10 years of experience in semiconductor design domains (IP/SoC design, design verification, or post-silicon validation).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on creating, validating, and debugging functional tests that meet manufacturing goals and on closing functional-test gaps before and after silicon availability.
- Validate DFT for manufacturing functional testing.
- Develop functional tests to qualify manufacturing objectives for CPU IP designs.
- Use fault simulators to measure coverage and identify/patch test gaps prior to high-volume manufacturing.
- Reproduce, root-cause, and debug failures in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments at system and tester levels.
- Create and implement corrective measures for failing tests in pre- and post-silicon contexts.
- Collaborate with design, architecture, SoC, and manufacturing teams to close functional-test issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes.
- Minimum ~10 years experience in semiconductor design domains (IP/SoC design, design verification, or post-silicon).
- Proven expertise with JTAG TAP (Test Access Port).
- Strong scripting and programming skills: Python, Perl, and C/C++.
- Robust understanding of CPU architecture and microarchitecture fundamentals.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM; experience debugging microarchitecture issues in pre-silicon environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; practical debugging experience.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Self-motivated with a focus on continuous learning and technical delivery.
Nice-to-have:
- ASIC design verification experience, particularly with x86 CPU cores.
- Post-silicon validation/debug experience at system or tester level.
- Experience using fault-simulator tools.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing process flow.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (as stated in the posting).
