The role works with cross-functional hardware teams and EDA partners to qualify tools, improve flows, and deliver actionable EM/IR results to designers.
Experience Level
Senior — the role requires substantial domain experience; posting specifies 6 to 15 years of experience in the EM/IR and PDN domain.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include maintaining and improving EM/IR flows, troubleshooting, and collaborating with partners and design teams.
- Develop, support, and enhance static IR, dynamic IR, and electromigration analysis flows at block and subsystem levels.
- Use and validate Synopsys RedHawk SC and/or Cadence Voltus power-integrity tools; integrate with PNR/STA and extraction flows.
- Troubleshoot and debug EM/IR issues; propose and validate corrective actions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide guidance and best-practice feedback to PDN analysis engineers.
- Develop post-processing scripts and dashboards to summarize actionable EM/IR results for design teams.
- Maintain and release qualified flow releases for large, complex SoC implementations.
- Qualify EM/IR tools with regression management systems and create automated tests.
- Engage and collaborate with EDA vendors to drive tool and flow improvements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- 6–15 years of experience in EM/IR and PDN analysis (mandatory).
- Expert user of Synopsys RedHawk SC and/or Cadence Voltus.
- Practical experience with PNR, STA, and extraction tool flows and integrations.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Tcl, Perl) for flow customization and automation.
- Experience qualifying tools, building regression tests, and managing regression systems.
- Ability to debug EM/IR issues at block, subsystem, and SoC scale and communicate solutions to design teams.
- Proven collaboration skills with EDA partners and cross-functional hardware teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with dashboarding/post-processing frameworks and prior work on very large SoC projects.
Education Requirements
Qualifications specify one of the following: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years' relevant experience; or Master's in the same fields with 5+ years' experience; or PhD in the same fields with 4+ years' experience.
