Job Title

CPU Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for planning and executing functional verification for a RISC-V CPU family. Work with CPU architects, RTL designers, and system teams to validate functionality and performance targets in pre-silicon environments.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career β€” typically requires 2+ years of relevant ASIC or FPGA design verification experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver verification activities from test plan to closure and improve verification infrastructure.

  • Develop and execute verification plans aligned to architectural and microarchitectural specifications.
  • Design scalable, reusable UVM-based testbenches and verification components.
  • Perform functional coverage analysis and implement closure strategies.
  • Run system-level simulations and debug pre-silicon issues, perform root-cause analysis.
  • Automate verification flows and tooling using scripting or compiled languages.
  • Collaborate with architects and RTL developers to verify complex CPU features.
  • Maintain and enhance verification methodologies, infrastructure, and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Nice-to-have items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: 2+ years in ASIC or FPGA design verification; strong hands-on experience with HDLs (Verilog or VHDL) and SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: Experience developing UVM-based testbenches and components; familiarity with coverage-driven and assertion-based verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Working knowledge of the RISC-V instruction set architecture and experience verifying CPU features.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must-have: Scripting/programming skills for automation and data analysis (Python, Perl, Tcl, C++ or similar).
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI, ACE, CHI, APB) and industry simulation/debug tools (Synopsys VCS, Cadence Xcelium, Mentor Questa).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience developing verification infrastructure and leading technical reviews across teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering.
