CPU Design Verification Associate Engineer
QualcommJob Title
CPU Design Verification Associate Engineer
Role Summary
Verify power management and related features for high-performance, low-power CPUs within the CPU design team in Bangalore. Work across design, software, system architecture and emulation teams to validate CPU and SoC power intent and system use cases.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Associate. Typically suitable for candidates with early career experience in hardware or design verification (see Education Requirements for degree-and-experience combinations).
Responsibilities
Core verification and debug responsibilities for CPU power management and system validation.
- Develop and execute verification plans for power management: boot, reset, clock gating, power gating, voltage/frequency management (DVFS/DCVS), throttling and limit management.
- Write test stimulus, checkers and assertions; use simulation and formal methods to validate designs.
- Verify power intent using UPF and related methodologies.
- Collaborate with CPU designers, system architects, software teams and SoC teams to validate system-level scenarios.
- Enable and run verification on emulation and FPGA platforms; work with emulation teams to port tests.
- Debug and triage failures in simulation, emulation and silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and verification experience. Degrees and explicit years are summarized under Education Requirements below.
- Experience in power management verification and verification of features such as clock gating, power gating, UPF, DVFS/DCVS, reliability and throttling.
- Proficiency in C/C++, assembly language, embedded C firmware development, and scripting languages for testbench/automation.
- Experience with Verilog / SystemVerilog and assertion-based verification.
- Familiarity with simulation, formal verification techniques, and writing assertions/checkers.
- Experience enabling and running verification on emulators and FPGA platforms; ability to debug across simulation, emulation and silicon.
- Strong understanding of CPU power management features and CPU-based SoC behavior.
- Preferred: knowledge of CPU microarchitecture, digital logic design, DFT, structural debug and related tools (JTAG, IEEE1500, MBIST, scan/memory dump).
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications include degree-and-experience combinations: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field with 4+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years' experience; OR PhD with 2+ years' experience. The posting also references BE/BTech (CS/EE) with 12+ years' experience as an alternate combination. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable where noted.
