CPU Design Senior Lead Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
CPU Design Senior Lead Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification of high-performance, low-power CPU blocks with focus on power management features. Work within the CPU verification team to develop and execute verification plans across simulation, emulation and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior β role expects experienced engineers. Typical experience guidance from the posting: equivalent of ~4+ years (Bachelor) / 3+ years (Master) / 2+ years (PhD) of relevant hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities center on verifying CPU power management features and collaborating with cross-functional teams to validate system use cases.
- Define and execute verification plans for power management: Boot, Reset, clock gating, power gating, voltage/frequency management, limit management and throttling.
- Develop stimulus, write checkers and assertions; use simulation and formal verification methodologies to validate designs.
- Verify power intent and flows using UPF and related methodologies.
- Collaborate with design, architecture, software, SoC and emulation teams to enable verification on emulators and FPGA platforms and validate system-level scenarios.
- Debug and triage failures in simulation, emulation and silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Hands-on experience in power management verification for CPUs or CPU-based SoCs, including clock gating, power gating, DVFS/DCVS, reliability and throttling.
- Proficient in C/C++ and scripting languages; experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Experience implementing or working with embedded firmware (assembly and C).
- Practical experience using UPF or similar power-intent methodologies.
- Strong debugging skills across simulation, emulation and silicon platforms.
- Experience enabling verification on emulators and FPGA platforms.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with formal verification and writing assertions.
- Deep knowledge of CPU architecture and microarchitecture, digital logic design, debug features and DFT concepts.
- Familiarity with structural debug and DFT tools/procedures (JTAG, IEEE1500, MBIST, scan/memory dump).
Education Requirements
The posting specifies degree-based experience options: Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related) with ~4+ years' relevant experience; Master's degree in those fields with ~3+ years; PhD in those fields with ~2+ years. It also references BE/BTech in CS/EE and allows related work experience as an equivalent.
