CPU Core High Performance Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the high-performance CPU core physical design team to own a portion of a CPU core, driving work from synthesis through placed-and-routed implementation. Collaborate with architects and CAD/DFT teams to meet timing, power, and performance targets. Position is based in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform logic synthesis and deliver placed-and-routed core blocks that meet timing and power targets.
- Collaborate with architecture, CAD, and DFT teams to optimize critical timing paths.
- Apply expertise in clocks, standard cell libraries, synthesis, place-and-route, and electrical analysis.
- Analyze power/performance trade-offs and propose lower-power or higher-performance solutions.
- Prepare schedules and define scope for flow steps and circuit macro deliveries.
- Prepare and present technical recommendations for design reviews.
Requirements
Must-have skills and constraints:
- Demonstrated expertise in synthesis, place-and-route flows, and CAD tools for high-performance CPU/core design.
- Ability to independently execute design work and contribute technically with significant impact.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across disciplines (architecture, CAD, DFT).
- Authorization to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Preferred: track record of improving performance and reducing power via design trade-offs.
Education Requirements
MS degree in Electrical Engineering.
