CPU Circuit Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
CPU Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join a CPU design team responsible for circuit-level performance verification, timing signoff, and optimizing performance/power/area (PPA) for advanced process technologies. The role focuses on pre-silicon circuit analysis, timing closure, and growing ownership of pre-to-post silicon correlation and debug.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Experienced hire). This role expects substantial prior industry experience; see Education Requirements for degree-and-experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Deliver circuit and timing quality for CPU designs across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
- Drive performance verification methodology and timing/circuit quality signoff for CPU blocks.
- Evaluate new process nodes using circuit simulation and block-scaling; recommend frequency targets.
- Make informed PPA trade-offs and converge with RTL, circuit, and static timing teams to meet timing targets without compromising quality or schedule.
- Own or grow into pre-to-post silicon voltage/frequency (VF) correlation and debug circuit marginality findings.
- Collaborate across design domains to identify and resolve timing and circuit issues through tape-in.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills; preferred items listed separately.
- 5+ years of CPU circuit or backend design experience.
- 5+ years of circuit design experience, including static timing analysis (STA).
- Proven track record of execution and ownership in advanced process technologies.
- Ability to make performance/power/area trade-offs and deliver timing closure under schedule constraints.
- Experience with circuit simulation and timing signoff flows.
Nice-to-have:
- In-depth STA and tape-in signoff criteria knowledge.
- Experience guiding post-silicon debug of circuit marginality and VF correlation.
- Leadership experience leading small technical teams (2–3 engineers) and mentoring.
- Hands-on individual contributor who can delegate to meet aggressive schedules.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus 6+ years, or Master’s degree plus 4+ years, in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting indicates experience may be obtained via a combination of degree, research, prior job, or internship experience.
