Job Title

CPU Architecture and RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on microarchitecture and RTL implementation for next-generation high-performance CPU cores, primarily focused on caches and the memory subsystem. Join a cross-functional hardware and software engineering team to define architecture, implement RTL, and support verification, timing closure, and silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design and delivery of CPU core functional units with emphasis on caches and related logic.

  • Develop and maintain RTL for sections of the processor core pipeline, with a focus on cache/memory subsystem logic.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to define high-level architecture and microarchitecture.
  • Participate in design verification, synthesis, power-reduction efforts, timing convergence, and floorplanning.
  • Support post-silicon bring-up and debug to ensure successful product qualification.
  • Contribute to design reviews and cross-team integration activities.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience expected for the role.

  • Must-have: Proven RTL coding experience in a high-speed CPU environment and familiarity with industry RTL development tools.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of processor architecture and logic design, with experience in high-performance CPU microarchitecture.
  • Must-have: Experience or working knowledge of synthesis, place & route concepts, and timing closure.
  • Must-have: Experience with design verification, power-reduction techniques, and timing convergence efforts.
  • Must-have: Post-silicon support and debugging experience (bring-up, root-cause analysis).
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving, debugging skills, and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to physical design and verification methods, patents or publications demonstrating microarchitecture contributions.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience across product lifecycle from clean-sheet design to tape-out.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
