CPEE Principal/Senior Engineer (Diffusion)
Role Summary
The OCT CPEE Diffusion Engineer drives process and equipment engineering improvements in diffusion to meet targets for safety, quality, cost, output, and technology enablement. The role partners with Manufacturing, Process Integration, Yield, MAE, central teams, and equipment suppliers to improve equipment capability, manufacturing efficiency, and productivity.
Work emphasizes technical troubleshooting, data-driven recommendations, cross-functional influence, and delivery of sustainable manufacturing results.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects experienced engineers with demonstrated semiconductor process or equipment engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Drive diffusion process and equipment performance, productivity, and technical problem resolution across the fab.
- Lead technical investigations for equipment, process, and yield excursions using structured problem-solving methods.
- Identify and implement improvements to Manufacturing Availability, Utilization, Throughput, WPD, and RPT.
- Analyze manufacturing constraints; design and execute productivity and capacity-improvement projects to increase fab output and reduce cycle time.
- Support Max-Out, Productivity, Everest, WPD, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Partner with Manufacturing, PIE, Yield, MAE, and global central teams to align and deploy technical solutions.
- Engage equipment suppliers to develop and deploy hardware/software fixes and productivity enhancements; hold suppliers accountable for performance.
- Develop standards, methodologies, and best practices for diffusion operations; mentor junior engineers.
- Apply data analytics, DOE, SPC, and statistical techniques to identify improvement opportunities and predict performance trends.
- Lead AI-driven and automation initiatives: use approved enterprise AI tools and analytics to accelerate problem solving, predictive maintenance, excursion detection, and capacity optimization while following information security and AI governance requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role and influence cross-functional teams.
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process engineering, or equipment engineering (diffusion experience preferred but not required here).
- Proven ability to lead technical problem solving and root-cause analysis for process and equipment issues.
- Strong data analysis skills and familiarity with statistical methods for process control and improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and execute projects independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present technical recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
- Experience working cross-functionally and with equipment suppliers to implement technical solutions (preferred).
- Experience with productivity improvement programs, capacity management, and manufacturing optimization (preferred).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
