Job Title

Core Performance Architect

Role Summary

Lead performance research and micro-architecture development to deliver high-performance RISC-V cores. Work with performance engineers, architects, and design teams to develop, evaluate, and implement micro-architecture features that meet aggressive performance targets.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 3+ years of experience in high-performance processor development and delivering hardware or software products.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on research, modeling, experimentation, and delivery of micro-architecture features to achieve performance goals.

  • Lead and mentor a team of performance engineers to research and develop core architecture and micro-architecture ideas.
  • Design and execute experiments, simulations, and performance studies to validate architecture concepts.
  • Model performance and project outcomes to guide architecture trade-offs and target setting.
  • Collaborate with RTL design and implementation teams to translate architecture features into deliverable hardware and meet performance targets.
  • Analyze system and software stack performance to identify and address bottlenecks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must have: 3+ years of experience in high-performance processor development and in engineering teams delivering HW or SW products.
  • Must have: Hands-on expertise with hardware development flows (RTL and implementation flows), verification/validation, backend flows, and FPGA flows; practical experience with FPGA debug (including use of Integrated Logic Analyzer or equivalent).
  • Must have: Strong ability to analyze micro-architecture and software-stack performance bottlenecks and propose mitigations.
  • Must have: Solid foundation in computer architecture for high-performance out-of-order CPU designs and familiarity with industry micro-architectures.
  • Must have: Experience in workload characterization and workload reduction techniques for efficient simulation and performance projection.
  • Nice to have: Awareness of potential security implications in micro-architecture design.

Education Requirements

MS in Computer Science or Computer Architecture (as stated in the posting).
