Job Title

Connectivity Project Engineer, Principal

Role Summary

Senior engineering lead responsible for planning and executing chipset projects from concept to commercialization within Qualcomm's Data Center ASIC organization. The role coordinates cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, low-power server SoCs with significant mixed-signal SerDes components.

Experience Level

Senior β€” Principal-level role. The posting expects very senior experience: examples in the description call for ~15 years in semiconductor product development and multiple years in technical leadership. Minimum qualifications list degree-based minimums (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate engineering execution across multiple domains to meet product KPIs (PPA, schedule, cost) and drive resolution of cross-subsystem issues.

  • Oversee end-to-end chipset development and ensure delivery against performance, power, area, schedule and cost targets.
  • Drive technical issue resolution across functional blocks and external teams; escalate and report status to senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks; perform engineering trade-off analysis and prioritize corrective actions.
  • Define and improve processes and methodologies to close gaps and meet product specifications.
  • Support commercialization activities including post-silicon validation, silicon characterization, test, and compliance activities.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to direct and dotted-line reports; influence organizational decisions related to the program.

Requirements

Technical expertise and proven leadership in complex SoC development. (Degree details moved to Education Requirements.)

  • Extensive experience with SoC architecture, mixed-signal interfaces (SerDes, DDR) and high-performance SoC subsystems.
  • Hands-on background in silicon test, post-silicon validation, power/thermal convergence, and high-volume manufacturing considerations.
  • Proven track record in engineering trade-off analysis and program risk mitigation for large, complex designs.
  • Experience with high-speed Ethernet or PCIe SerDes IP or SerDes-based products preferred.
  • Strong communication skills; able to present technical status and risks to senior management and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Prior technical leadership experience driving multi-disciplinary engineering teams and delivering commercial products.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 8+ years ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 7+ years; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 6+ years. Fields referenced: general Science/Engineering or related technical disciplines.
