Connectivity Project Engineer, Principal
QualcommJob Title
Connectivity Project Engineer, Principal
Role Summary
Lead cross-functional engineering projects for data-center SoCs with significant mixed-signal SerDes content. Responsible for planning and executing programs from concept through commercialization, driving technical resolution across subsystems, and communicating program status to senior management.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal). Typical candidate has 15+ years of semiconductor product development experience and at least 5 years in technical leadership roles; deep familiarity with data-center SoC architectures and mixed-signal interfaces is expected.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include program leadership, cross-team coordination, and driving technical delivery against KPIs.
- Plan and execute chipset development across all phases from concept to commercialization.
- Oversee chipset performance against KPIs (PPA, schedule, cost) by coordinating domain experts.
- Drive resolution of engineering issues within the chipset and across functional blocks.
- Identify program and technical risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Influence and improve development processes and methodologies to meet product specifications.
- Coordinate post-silicon validation, silicon characterization, and manufacturing ramp activities.
- Report program status, progress, gaps, and risks to senior management; provide supervision to direct and dotted-line reports.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- Extensive experience architecting, designing, or validating high-performance SoCs, including mixed-signal interfaces (SerDes, DDR), power management, embedded processors, and I/O chiplets.
- Proven track record in semiconductor product development and commercialization (post-silicon validation, power/thermal convergence, silicon characterization, test, compliance).
- Experience performing engineering trade-off analysis and making KPI-driven design decisions.
- Strong program management, communication, and leadership skills; ability to work with senior technologists and influence cross-functional decisions.
- Preferred: experience developing high-speed Ethernet or PCIe SerDes IP or SerDes-based Ethernet/PCIe products.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications in source: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree with 7+ years; OR PhD with 6+ years. Fields referenced: Science, Engineering, or related technical fields. (Degree-based alternatives specified in source.)
