Job Title

Computer Architect

Role Summary

The Computer Architect will lead design-space exploration at the hardware–software boundary for Efficient's Fabric architecture. You will build and run architectural simulators, create visualization and monitoring infrastructure, analyze performance and efficiency of applications, and communicate results to compiler, digital, applications, and embedded teams.

This is an early-stage product role with direct influence on architecture and product direction for ultra-low-power general-purpose processors.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Candidates typically have 3+ years of industry experience; the team expects demonstrated experience running architectural experiments and developing simulators.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include experimentation, simulation, analysis, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Define and refine the hardware–software interface in collaboration with Compiler and Digital Design teams.
  • Analyze performance and energy efficiency of key applications on the Fabric and on competing architectures.
  • Design, implement, and maintain architectural/microarchitectural simulators to model Fabric performance.
  • Build dashboards and visualization infrastructure to monitor performance and efficiency continuously.
  • Design and execute experiments to explore design trade-offs and optimize architecture for target applications.
  • Collect, process, and analyze experimental data; generate actionable insights.
  • Prepare internal reports, white papers, and research publications describing findings and recommendations.

Requirements

Minimal and preferred qualifications for successful candidates.

  • Must-have: Extensive experience (3+ years) designing and implementing architectural or microarchitectural simulators.
  • Must-have: Strong programming skills in C++; proficiency with Python and shell scripting (Bash).
  • Must-have: Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as numpy and matplotlib; familiarity with Mathematica is a plus.
  • Must-have: Experience designing and executing experiments, collecting and analyzing performance/energy data.
  • Must-have: Excellent technical communication skills (written and presentation).
  • Nice-to-have: Track record of research publications in computer architecture.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering plus 3+ years of industry experience, or a doctoral degree (PhD) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
