Focus areas include high-speed PCB design, memory and peripheral interfaces, power delivery and signal integrity. The role involves customer-facing enablement: documentation, training, design examples, and hands-on troubleshooting.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Preferred 2+ years of hardware design or hardware applications experience.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities for the role include technical customer support, design review, and documentation.
- Provide hardware design support to customers to enable high-quality product launches.
- Research and answer in-depth technical questions on Qualcomm SoCs and associated memory, peripherals, and IOs (e.g., LPDDR, UFS, USB, PCIe, CSI, DSI, DP, Ethernet).
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, integration, debug, and problem reproduction on internal and customer platforms.
- Conduct block diagram, schematic, parts placement, and PCB routing reviews, including DDR, PDN, and signal integrity simulations.
- Create and contribute hardware design examples, documentation, and customer-facing collateral.
- Deliver customer training and design reviews as needed.
Requirements
Key technical and interpersonal requirements. Listed as must-have vs nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Familiarity with high-speed PCB design concepts (transmission lines, stack-up, controlled impedance, EMI/EMC, PDN) and schematic/layout considerations.
- Must-have: Knowledge of SoC interfaces such as LPDDR, MIPI, USB, PCIe, UFS, and related peripherals.
- Must-have: Demonstrated experience in hardware integration, debug, root-cause analysis, and reproducing system issues.
- Must-have: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience programming in Python or Visual Basic.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with signal integrity or PDN simulation tools and prior customer-facing applications or hardware design roles.
