Job Title
Component Quality Engineer
Role Summary
The Component Quality Engineer in Research, Development and Engineering (RD&E) is responsible for validating and assuring component quality across software, embedded systems, and semiconductor hardware. The role combines web and AI/ML development with hands-on semiconductor testing, PCB/hardware bring-up, and rapid prototyping.
Main mission: develop, test, and qualify components from prototype to production while collaborating with hardware, software, and QA teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years of experience were stated, but the role expects practical, hands-on experience across software development, embedded systems, and semiconductor testing.
Responsibilities
Accountable for end-to-end development, testing, and quality assurance of components spanning software and hardware domains.
- Design and implement web applications and REST APIs using HTML, Python and/or Java; manage databases and data flows.
- Develop applications and tools in C# (Visual Studio) and Python (VS Code); contribute to architecture, testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Develop and integrate AI/ML models using Python and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow; support data annotation, cleaning, and labeling.
- Develop firmware and system-level integrations for STM32 and FPGA platforms; support PCB design and hardware bring-up.
- Execute IC and module testing, validation, and troubleshooting across semiconductor stages from FOL to EOL.
- Create mechanical prototypes with 3D CAD and operate FDM/SLA 3D printers for rapid iteration.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and document results; communicate effectively in English.
- Apply failure analysis and inspection methods and follow ESD handling procedures within an Electrostatic Protective Area (EPA).
Requirements
Key technical skills and practical experience required; preferred qualifications listed below.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in web development (HTML, REST APIs, databases) and Python and/or Java.
- Practical experience with VS Code and Visual Studio (C#).
- AI/ML experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and experience in data annotation/cleaning for ML workflows.
- Embedded systems experience with STM32 and/or FPGA; exposure to PCB design and hardware bring-up.
- Hands-on semiconductor experience including IC/module testing and familiarity with manufacturing stages from FOL to EOL.
- Working knowledge of ESD handling in an Electrostatic Protective Area (EPA).
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; fluent English (written and verbal).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience designing test fixtures or validation frameworks for IC/modules.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, or cloud services for deploying web/ML applications.
- Experience with electronics lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DAQ) and reliability/DFM testing.
- Experience with 3D CAD, PCB/MCAD tools, and 3D printing (FDM/SLA); contributions to open-source projects or published prototypes.
- Knowledge of RoHS requirements and basic failure analysis techniques (decapsulation, solderability testing).
Education Requirements
Not specified.
