Technical engineering role on the Component Quality and Technology team focused on semiconductor components for high-speed systems. Work with design, manufacturing, operations, quality teams and vendors to select, test, qualify, and resolve issues for devices such as ASICs, NPUs, FPGAs, PHYs, retimers and CPUs.
Experience Level
Entry-level; the role expects at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include component selection, qualification, failure analysis, and driving cross-functional mitigation.
- Perform semiconductor component selection, testing, qualification and characterization to meet product specifications.
- Lead investigations and end-to-end failure analysis for component and system issues; define and verify corrective and preventive actions (8D, RCCA).
- Collaborate with hardware/software engineering, manufacturing, operations and quality on component selection, design reviews, risk assessment and mitigation.
- Develop and execute test plans for NPI, mass production and field returns; analyze results and recommend design or process changes.
- Work with vendors to define verification activities and influence technology roadmaps to support product requirements.
- Document findings, communicate technical status, and drive technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Summary of required and preferred skills and experience.
-
Must-have: Minimum 2+ years of experience in the semiconductor, networking, server, computer or embedded industry.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with semiconductor components such as ASICs, XPUs, FPGAs, PHYs, SerDes and retimers.
-
Must-have: Strong understanding of semiconductor design, fabrication, qualification, testing, quality, reliability and failure analysis techniques.
-
Must-have: Experience investigating component failures across NPI, mass production, and field returns; familiarity with sophisticated failure analysis techniques.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of device reliability and test methods such as HTOL, ELFR, LU and ESD; familiarity with control interfaces (PCIe, MDIO, SPI, I2C).
-
Must-have: Effective communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
-
Nice-to-have: 4+ years of industry experience and a track record of influencing cross-functional teams and vendor roadmaps.
-
