Job Title
Component Engineer - Semiconductor Devices
Role Summary
Work on semiconductor component selection, testing, qualification and failure analysis for high-speed systems (ASICs, NPUs, CPUs, Ethernet switches, FPGAs, PHYs, retimers, etc.).
Partner with design, manufacturing, operations, quality teams and external vendors to ensure component readiness for development, NPI and production.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum 2+ years in semiconductor, networking, server, computer or embedded industries; 4+ years preferred.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include technical evaluation, qualification and investigation of semiconductor components and system-level issues.
- Select, test and qualify semiconductor components to meet product specifications.
- Lead failure investigations and end-to-end root-cause analysis; define and verify corrective and preventive actions (8D, RCCA).
- Collaborate on component selection, design reviews, risk assessment and mitigation with cross-functional teams.
- Engage with vendors to influence technology roadmaps and resolve component issues.
- Support investigations across NPI, mass production and field returns using advanced failure analysis techniques.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviours.
- 2+ years industry experience in semiconductor, networking, server, computer or embedded sectors.
- Experience with semiconductor components such as ASICs, XPUs, FPGAs, PHYs and SerDes/retimers.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor design, fabrication, characterization, qualification, testing, quality and reliability.
- Experience performing failure analysis and working with vendors to implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of reliability testing methods (HTOL, ELFR, LU, ESD) and sophisticated FA techniques.
- Familiarity with control interfaces and high-speed protocols (PCIe, MDIO, SPI, I2C) and experience with high-speed hardware designs.
- Effective problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Nice-to-have: experience with x86 or ARM CPU hardware designs; demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional technical initiatives; 4+ years experience.
