Job Title

Compiler Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement offload and SYCL infrastructure within open-source and closed-source compiler stacks to enable heterogeneous computing across CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators. Work on binary formats, device code generation, and offloading models and collaborate upstream with LLVM and SYCL communities as well as internal compiler, runtime, performance, and platform teams.

Small team, production-focused work that affects oneAPI compiler tooling for AI and HPC workloads.

Experience Level

Mid-level; typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement offloading technologies such as binary formats, device code generation, and offloading models.
  • Develop and maintain compiler components in LLVM/Clang and Intel compiler stacks.
  • Contribute upstream to open-source projects (LLVM, SYCL) and coordinate integrations.
  • Collaborate with runtime, performance, and platform teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
  • Debug complex compiler and runtime issues; profile and optimize generated code.
  • Produce production-quality code, tests, and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have skills:

  • Proficiency in C/C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures.
  • Open-source development experience (contributions to LLVM, SYCL, or similar projects).
  • Foundational compiler knowledge: frontend parsing, IR transformation, code generation, and linking.
  • Understanding of heterogeneous computing concepts: CPU/GPU programming, offloading models, and accelerator architectures.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing production compilers, offloading toolchains, SPIR-V generation, or Clang driver work.
  • Expertise with heterogeneous architectures (CPU/GPU/NPU) and programming models (SYCL, CUDA, OpenMP).
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Relevant research, internships, or equivalent practical experience may substitute.
