Compiler Engineer
Role Summary
Join the P4 Language Compiler team within AMD's Network Technology Solutions Group (NTSG) working on the AMD Pensando DPU product. The role focuses on implementing and extending P4 language features, developing compiler optimizations, performing performance analysis, and participating in ASIC co-design.
Work is hybrid based in Santa Clara, CA, with the option of other AMD US offices (including Austin, TX). This role requires close collaboration with hardware and software teams and customer support activities.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, optimization, and support of the P4 compiler and related tooling.
- Define and implement new P4 language features and extensions.
- Design and implement compiler optimizations for P4 programs.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and fix compiler issues; research alternative implementations for improved efficiency.
- Perform performance analysis and profiling of compiler-generated code and toolchains.
- Participate in ASIC co-design activities to align software and hardware requirements.
- Provide technical support to customers and partners.
- Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams; track trends in compilers, languages, and networking technologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical abilities, and eligibility constraints.
- Strong C++ programming skills and attention to code quality.
- Experience with the LLVM framework.
- Familiarity with software development tools and processes: debuggers, profilers, and source control (e.g., GitHub).
- Ability to write, test, and review high-quality code.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills; able to collaborate with hardware and software teams.
- Ability to provide customer-facing technical support.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with the P4 language or networking domain.
- Experience with ASIC co-design, DPUs, or networking hardware.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
