Codesign Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and maintain automation around chip codesign workflows to accelerate architecture-to-silicon iteration. Work with architects, microarchitects, software, and physical design teams to automate documentation, simulation, and product/version management.
Experience Level
Mid-level - suitable for engineers with prior industry experience (typical range: 3+ years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include automating design flows, improving toolchain throughput, and enabling reproducible product artifacts.
- Automate the chip architecture design methodology and surrounding toolchains.
- Design and tune AI coding agents for specific engineering workflows.
- Automate generation of documentation, test coverage reports, visualizations, and design artifacts.
- Manage product versioning and reproducible builds.
- Optimize and schedule simulation and verification execution.
- Collaborate closely with architects, microarchitects, software, and physical design teams to integrate automation solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and preferred additions.
- Must-have: Strong background in automation and DevOps practices, including experience applying LLMs or scripted agents to engineering tasks.
- Must-have: Experience with compilers, intermediate representations (IRs), and instruction set architectures (ISAs).
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to hardware design flows and EDA tools (synthesis, place-and-route, simulation).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Bazel or comparable build systems and large-scale build/integration infrastructure.
- Good-to-have: Familiarity with simulation optimization, test coverage tooling, and creating reproducible design artifacts.
