Co-Packaged Optics Process Development NPI Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for driving assembly and packaging process technology development for co-packaged optics from NPI to high-volume manufacturing. Collaborates with packaging teams, foundries, OSATs and consumable suppliers to mature processes, mitigate risks, and meet manufacturability, reliability and cost targets.

Supports Marvell's AI product initiatives by enabling advanced packaging solutions for high-performance systems.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of experience in semiconductor packaging, process and technology development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead process development at foundries and OSATs for 2.5D/3D chip-on-wafer (CoW) assembly and advanced packaging.
• Drive chemistry and consumables development with suppliers to prototype and scale packaging solutions.
• Manage NPI activities to achieve factory readiness, product maturation and ramp to high-volume manufacturing.
• Identify and mitigate technical and manufacturing risks during product integration.
• Manage package qualification, reliability testing, and failure analysis with sensitivity to physics-of-failure.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project milestones and report program status.
• Drive specification, ideation and innovation of advanced package solutions to support productization and cost reduction.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

• 10+ years experience in semiconductor packaging, process or technology development, with proven track record from technology development through NPI to HVM.
• Deep knowledge of advanced foundry process nodes and their interaction with packaging/assembly/substrates.
• Expertise in advanced packaging interconnects, TSVs and 2.5D/3D package form factors.
• Hands-on experience with wafer/process development and working with consumable suppliers and OSATs.
• Working understanding of package architecture, BOM, design-for-manufacturing, reliability and cost drivers.
• Familiarity with component and system-level reliability, testing and failure analysis.
• Project management experience and ability to communicate technical and program status to executive stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently to completion.
• Must be eligible to access export-controlled technology as required by U.S. law.
• Nice-to-have: experience with photonics packaging.

Education Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics is required.
