Job Title
Cloud Support Engineer — Managed Cloud Services
Role Summary
Provide customer-facing technical support and operations for secure cloud-based silicon design, HPC, and containerized workloads. Work with platform and engineering teams to maintain availability, performance, and compliance of multi-tenant environments.
The role focuses on Linux systems, OpenStack and/or OpenShift (Kubernetes) platform operations, HPC troubleshooting, automation, and secure operations for export‑restricted data.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates should have hands-on experience operating and supporting cloud and infrastructure platforms (OpenStack/OpenShift/Kubernetes, Linux, HPC) and automation; several years of relevant experience is expected.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support, operate platform infrastructure, and improve operational efficiency while maintaining security and compliance.
- Act as primary technical contact for external customers using secure cloud/HPC platforms; provide timely status updates and resolution.
- Operate and support Linux-based infrastructure: compute, storage, networking, identity services.
- Operate and troubleshoot OpenStack private/hybrid cloud core services (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone) and OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades and storage/network integrations.
- Monitor and diagnose HPC cluster performance, job scheduling, throughput, queue health, and scheduler configuration (Slurm, LSF, SGE, or equivalent).
- Troubleshoot license management issues and support license systems (e.g., FlexNet/FLEXlm or equivalent).
- Design, implement, and maintain automation for monitoring, capacity tracking, user provisioning, license usage, and anomaly detection using Python, shell, Perl, or similar.
- Participate in incident response, post‑incident analysis, and maintain runbooks, knowledge bases, and customer documentation.
- Follow security, access control, auditing, and change management procedures for ITAR/CUI environments.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements. Must-have items are listed first.
Must-have:
- Hands-on Linux system administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience operating and supporting OpenStack and/or OpenShift (Kubernetes) environments.
- Experience supporting HPC or large-scale compute environments and distributed resource managers (Slurm, LSF, SGE, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in automation using Python, shell scripting, Perl, or similar languages.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms.
- Familiarity with license management systems (e.g., FlexNet / FLEXlm or equivalent).
- Strong customer service skills: ownership, clear communication, and ability to manage multiple concurrent issues.
- Ability to operate within security and compliance processes and participate in incident response.
- U.S. Person status or eligibility as required to support export‑controlled environments.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience supporting EDA, semiconductor, or silicon design environments.
- Experience with cloud-based or on-prem HPC platforms (private, public, hybrid) and infrastructure-as-code/configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform).
- Experience applying AI-assisted automation in production operations or support.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
