Job Title

Cloud Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Technical leader in the System Simulation and Modeling (SSM) team responsible for architecting, developing, and scaling cloud-native software that enables system simulation, modeling, automation, and developer workflows before silicon availability. Works across firmware, OS, driver, and silicon teams to accelerate software development and validation.

Responsible for driving solutions from design through production deployment and for mentoring engineers; role is eligible for Intel's hybrid work model.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience expectations: Bachelor's degree +8 years, Master's degree +6 years, or PhD +4 years in software development or related technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

Deliver and maintain large-scale software systems and cloud infrastructure that enable shift-left development and system-level validation.

  • Architect and implement scalable software frameworks for simulation, modeling, automation, and cloud workflows.
  • Design platforms that support firmware, drivers, operating systems, middleware, and SDK validation.
  • Lead cross-functional requirements definition and influence technical direction across teams.
  • Apply automation and AI-assisted tooling to improve engineering productivity and solution quality.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and debug complex system-level interactions (firmware, OS, drivers, hardware/software).
  • Drive code and architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Identify technical risks and define mitigation strategies; influence long-term architecture and tooling investments.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and conditions to be considered.

  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex software systems at scale.
  • Advanced understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and system software development.
  • Advanced programming experience in C++, Python, or similar systems languages.
  • Experience leading technical projects that span multiple teams or system domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex, ambiguous technical problems with broad organizational impact.
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Unrestricted, permanent right to work in Costa Rica.

Nice-to-have (preferred):

  • Experience developing system simulators, virtual platforms, emulation technologies, or modeling frameworks.
  • Deep domain knowledge in memory, RAS, security, interconnects, accelerators, GPUs, or AI systems.
  • Experience debugging firmware boot flows, OS, device drivers, and hardware/software interactions.
  • Experience building AI/ML-enabled developer tools, intelligent automation, or applying AI to software engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with large-scale validation, performance characterization, workload analysis, and system optimization.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (with 8+ years experience); or Master's degree (with 6+ years experience); or PhD (with 4+ years experience) in software development or related technical disciplines. No specific certifications required. Equivalent combinations of advanced degrees and experience per the listed thresholds are accepted.
