Role Summary
Hands-on, on-site QA engineer responsible for operating and maintaining the physical lab infrastructure for NVIDIA's Cumulus Ethernet systems group. The role combines lab build/operations, hardware validation, and test automation to support development of high-speed Ethernet switch systems.
Primary focus is ensuring lab availability, validating platform functionality, and enabling engineering teams with reliable test environments.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 4+ years of hands-on hardware or system quality test engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Operate and improve QA lab infrastructure; design and execute platform validation and testing.
- Lead QA lab operations: rack-and-stack, structured cabling, power distribution, asset tracking, and hardware/software provisioning.
- Coordinate inventory control, procurement, and warehouse functions for lab equipment and supplies.
- Provide technical support to engineering: diagnose hardware issues, resolve network problems, and plan resource allocation.
- Lead hardware and software platform validation and testing for next-generation high-speed Ethernet switch systems.
- Validate Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking features on NVIDIA Spectrum switches running Cumulus Linux.
- Develop test plans and implement manual and automated test suites to verify system integrity.
- Build and maintain automation scripts and tools for continuous lab maintenance and functional testing.
- Own the defect lifecycle: identify and log issues, collaborate with R&D for resolution, and verify fixes.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 4+ years of hands-on hardware/system quality test engineering experience.
- Experience with Linux-based operating systems, server hardware, and switch configuration.
- Working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols such as VLAN, STP, LAG, DHCP, LLDP, and OSPF.
- Experience with board/platform bring-up, power and cooling infrastructure (including liquid cooling), and debugging hardware-software interactions.
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for test automation and diagnostics.
- Familiarity with traffic generators (e.g., Ixia, Spirent), test management frameworks, and bug tracking systems.
- Proven ability to communicate and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams including Development, QA, IT, Operations, and Procurement/Vendors.
Education Requirements
B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
