Job Title

CL QA Test Engineer and Lab Infrastructure Owner

Role Summary

Hands-on, on-site QA engineer responsible for operating and maintaining the physical lab infrastructure for NVIDIA's Cumulus Ethernet systems group. The role combines lab build/operations, hardware validation, and test automation to support development of high-speed Ethernet switch systems.

Primary focus is ensuring lab availability, validating platform functionality, and enabling engineering teams with reliable test environments.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 4+ years of hands-on hardware or system quality test engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Operate and improve QA lab infrastructure; design and execute platform validation and testing.

  • Lead QA lab operations: rack-and-stack, structured cabling, power distribution, asset tracking, and hardware/software provisioning.
  • Coordinate inventory control, procurement, and warehouse functions for lab equipment and supplies.
  • Provide technical support to engineering: diagnose hardware issues, resolve network problems, and plan resource allocation.
  • Lead hardware and software platform validation and testing for next-generation high-speed Ethernet switch systems.
  • Validate Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking features on NVIDIA Spectrum switches running Cumulus Linux.
  • Develop test plans and implement manual and automated test suites to verify system integrity.
  • Build and maintain automation scripts and tools for continuous lab maintenance and functional testing.
  • Own the defect lifecycle: identify and log issues, collaborate with R&D for resolution, and verify fixes.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • 4+ years of hands-on hardware/system quality test engineering experience.
  • Experience with Linux-based operating systems, server hardware, and switch configuration.
  • Working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols such as VLAN, STP, LAG, DHCP, LLDP, and OSPF.
  • Experience with board/platform bring-up, power and cooling infrastructure (including liquid cooling), and debugging hardware-software interactions.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for test automation and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with traffic generators (e.g., Ixia, Spirent), test management frameworks, and bug tracking systems.
  • Proven ability to communicate and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams including Development, QA, IT, Operations, and Procurement/Vendors.

Education Requirements

B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
