Job Title

Circuit Design Engineering Intern

Role Summary

This internship supports analog and mixed-signal circuit design within Intel's Silicon and Platform Engineering Group. The intern will work on schematic development, simulation, analysis, and documentation to help implement and integrate analog/mixed-signal circuits.

The role is hands-on and collaborative, intended to deepen technical skills in analog circuit design and expose the candidate to commercial design flows and verification practices.

Experience Level

Internship — Early-career. Position is targeted at graduate students (Master's or PhD) with at least one year of graduate study completed.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, simulation, analysis, and documentation of analog and mixed-signal circuits:

  • Contribute to schematic development and circuit-level performance evaluation.
  • Perform circuit-level simulations to validate designs across operating conditions and process corners.
  • Support definition and documentation of circuit-level requirements and specifications.
  • Analyze simulation results for gain, bandwidth, noise, linearity, stability, and power.
  • Prepare clear technical reports summarizing design approaches and simulation outcomes.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for scripting and workflow support (e.g., simulation setup, result parsing, documentation).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and qualifications; preferred items listed separately.

  • Coursework or research experience emphasizing analog or mixed-signal circuit design (practical project experience is acceptable).
  • Solid understanding of CMOS analog circuit fundamentals: amplifiers, biasing, feedback, and stability.
  • Foundational knowledge of linear systems and signal analysis as applied to analog circuits.
  • Experience with analog circuit simulation tools (SPICE-based simulators) from coursework, projects, or research.
  • Experience using AI-based tools for scripting or productivity support in an engineering or academic context.
  • Intermediate English language proficiency (preferred advanced/native language listed below).

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso / Spectre or equivalent.
  • Experience applying analog design concepts to course projects, tape-out projects, or research prototypes.
  • Strong graduate-level background in analog and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Advanced or native English proficiency.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; minimum of one year completed in the graduate program. Coursework or research emphasis in analog or mixed-signal circuit design. (No alternative-equivalent-experience language provided.)
