Role Summary

Work on standard cell library design and characterization for advanced deep-submicron processors. The role focuses on transistor-level circuit design, performance analysis, library validation and automation to support digital implementation and signoff flows.

Experience Level

Entry-level — new college graduate. Targeted at recent graduates (new college grad, early-career engineers).

Responsibilities

Contribute to standard cell characterization, tool development, and cross-functional library validation.

• Design and analyze transistor-level circuits for standard cell libraries in advanced process nodes.
• Characterize cells for timing, power, noise and OCV; validate generated views and data quality.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools (Perl/Python/Tcl/Make) to automate flows and simulations.
• Run and adapt SPICE simulations and other signoff tools to evaluate cell behavior.
• Collaborate with layout, timing, and verification teams to resolve library issues and improve QA checks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, plus desirable additions listed separately.

• Background in deep submicron process issues and their impact on circuit behavior.
• Understanding of design, verification and characterization flows for standard cell libraries.
• Familiarity with Liberty models and their use in digital implementation and signoff.
• Experience running SPICE simulations and ability to adopt new simulation tools.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Perl, Python, Tcl, Make or similar).
• Strong teamwork, communication and analytical skills; ability to learn quickly and deliver results.
• Nice-to-have: prior standard cell or IP characterization experience and experience developing automation algorithms/tools.

Education Requirements

Recently graduated with a MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. (The posting targets new college graduates.)
