Job Title

Chip Power Estimation Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain architectural power estimation models and infrastructure for GPUs and SoCs. Work across architecture, design, synthesis, timing, circuit, and post-silicon teams to estimate, correlate, and optimize chip and board power for product use cases.

Opportunity to influence power/performance tradeoffs across consumer graphics, automotive, and AI products.

Experience Level

Early career (Entry-level). The posting requests at least 2+ years of relevant experience in power/performance estimation and optimization.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building models, tools, and workflows to estimate and optimize chip power.

  • Architect, develop, and correlate power estimation models and tools for NVIDIA chips.
  • Develop models for use-case, idle, and I/O power and design associated testing infrastructures.
  • Design and implement power-estimation tools and validation methodologies.
  • Calibrate models against measured silicon and board data.
  • Evaluate chip configuration and process-technology options to optimize power/performance.
  • Contribute ideas and analyses to improve performance-per-watt for GPUs and SoCs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in power/performance estimation and optimization techniques.
  • Strong fundamentals in transistor-level leakage and dynamic behavior of VLSI circuits.
  • Familiarity with low-power design techniques such as multi-Vt, clock gating, power gating, and DVFS.
  • Proven knowledge of power-estimation techniques, flows, and algorithms.
  • Good programming skills; Python preferred. Strong object-oriented programming and software design skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with board-level power measurement equipment (oscilloscope, DAQ) and analysis of board power issues.
  • Familiarity with power analysis EDA tools such as PTPX/EPS.
  • Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
