Camera Software Application Engineer — Sr. Staff

Role Summary

Senior software engineer supporting OEM customers on camera and embedded software for Qualcomm reference designs. The role focuses on debugging, optimizing, integrating camera subsystems, and providing hands-on technical support during product development and launch.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Experience guidance per degree: PhD with 4+ years, Master's with 5+ years, Bachelor's with 6+ years of relevant software applications engineering or software development experience.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support to OEMs and internal teams across camera and embedded software stacks.

  • Assist OEMs with design integration, debugging, and performance/power optimization for camera solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and driver issues on Qualcomm reference platforms.
  • Read and produce technical specifications and requirements; document findings and fixes.
  • Customize software features and support product bring-up, including sensor/driver integration.
  • Work in Linux/Android development environments; use tools like git and build systems.
  • Provide on-site or remote customer support for urgent issues and troubleshooting.

Requirements

Core technical must-haves and useful additional skills.

Must-have:

  • Software applications engineering or software development experience supporting embedded systems and customers.
  • 3+ years experience programming in C/C++, Java, Python, or similar languages.
  • 3+ years experience with debugging techniques and problem solving on embedded platforms.
  • Experience with driver architecture, reading/writing technical specifications, and customer-facing support.

Nice-to-have:

  • Android camera stack/framework and Android/Linux multimedia development experience.
  • Camera ISP pipeline, image signal processing, 3A algorithms, tuning, and camera performance optimization.
  • Experience with JTAG debugging, sensor/VCM/flash drivers, MIPI, I2C, GPIOs, V4L2.
  • Real-time OS or microkernel programming on ARM or Hexagon; APK/Eclipse development experience.

Education Requirements

Degree required: one of the following or equivalent practical experience — Bachelor's in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (with 6+ years relevant experience); Master's in those fields (with 5+ years); or PhD in those fields (with 4+ years). The posting allows equivalent work experience in place of formal degrees.
