Camera Power Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Camera Power Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Multimedia Power team responsible for power analysis, budgeting, and optimization for camera and multimedia cores across Snapdragon SoCs used in Mobile, Automotive, Compute, XR, and IoT products.
The role drives core-level power targets, performs estimation and validation from pre-RTL through post-silicon, and collaborates with architects, design, and verification teams to reduce power while meeting performance goals.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Staff). The posting expects extensive practical experience with low-power hardware architecture and power optimization; no explicit years-of-experience requirement stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and drive hardware core-level power targets and optimization strategies across the SoC execution flow.
- Perform pre-silicon power estimation using industry tools and produce reliable power budgets.
- Validate and correlate power estimates against silicon measurements on target platforms.
- Develop and apply advanced modeling techniques, including machine learning, to predict and analyze power consumption.
- Support power optimization throughout the design cycle (pre-RTL to post-silicon), for average and peak power.
- Collaborate daily with system architects, design engineers, and verification teams to define and refine multimedia use cases for power analysis.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Extensive experience with low-power design techniques: setting power targets, pre-silicon estimation, and post-silicon measurement/validation.
- Proficiency with power estimation and optimization tools such as Synopsys PrimePower, Ansys Power Artist, and Siemens PowerPro.
- Strong understanding of synthesis and physical design processes as they relate to power optimization and management.
- Familiarity with multimedia IPs (camera systems, video codecs, computer vision) and SoC architectures.
- Experience correlating power models with silicon measurements and debugging power issues.
- Experience with hardware design and verification tools is desirable.
- Experience applying machine learning/deep learning techniques to power modeling is a plus.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The posting also lists a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering as an acceptable/advanced qualification (BSEE or MSEE referenced).
