Camera Firmware Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Camera Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Develop firmware and contribute to ASIC/IP development for camera subsystems within Qualcomm's Camera Engineering team. Work with cross-functional teams to define, model, design, verify, implement, and document block- and SoC-level features for high-performance, low-power products.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Preferred experience: at least 6+ months with architecture/design tools, scripting/programming, and design verification methods; works under supervision with decision-making scoped to team-level tasks.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include design support, verification, and documentation for camera-related IP/SoC components.
- Support definition, modeling, design (digital and/or analog), optimization, verification, validation, implementation, and documentation of IP (block/SoC) development.
- Assist in creating architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop implementation strategies that meet system and customer requirements.
- Support evaluation of design flow from high-level design through synthesis, place-and-route, timing, and power analysis or custom circuit/layout flow.
- Use EDA and design tools (for example, RTL-to-GDS flows and Virtuoso) to implement and verify designs.
- Produce technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects and communicate status and issues to stakeholders.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience expected for successful candidates.
- Must-have: Practical knowledge of ASIC/IP development and lifecycle (design, verification, implementation) and familiarity with EDA flows and tools.
- Must-have: Experience with architecture and design tools, scripting tools, and programming languages sufficient to support design and verification tasks.
- Must-have: Familiarity with design verification methods and the ability to contribute to verification activities.
- Must-have: Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with RTL-to-GDS flows, Virtuoso, firmware for camera or imaging subsystems, and proficiency in C/C++ or other embedded languages.
- Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to algorithms related to imaging, Android integration, or system-level firmware development.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
