Camera Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and productize camera firmware for Qualcomm chipsets targeting mobile, XR, and automotive platforms. Work within the Systems Engineering team to implement and optimize ISP/ camera drivers on controller processors running RTOS.
Collaborate with hardware, systems, software teams and OEM customers through design, validation and commercialization phases to deliver stable, power- and performance-optimized camera solutions.
Experience Level
Entry-level to early-career β looking for 1β3 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement and productize unified ISP/camera firmware and drivers for Qualcomm platforms.
- Prototype end-to-end use cases using firmware test benches for early FW/HW validation.
- Optimize camera/video processing pipeline for performance and power on embedded processors.
- Debug complex system-level issues across firmware, drivers and hardware.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, software) during design, validation and commercialization.
- Engage with OEM customer engineering teams to stabilize and adapt camera solutions to customer requirements.
- Provide feedback to influence camera hardware architecture for future chipsets.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience in image processing, computer vision or video domains.
- Hands-on knowledge of camera/video/computer-vision hardware pipelines, development, porting and optimization.
- Solid C/C++ programming, multithreading, and RTOS/OS concepts.
- Strong system-level debugging and problem-solving skills.
- 1β3 years of relevant industry experience.
Nice-to-have:
- Device driver development experience for hardware.
- Familiarity with Tensilica and/or ARM processors.
- Experience developing firmware test benches and early verification workflows.
- Understanding of power/performance trade-offs for embedded camera systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is listed as the minimum qualification.
