Job Title

CAD-Synthesis Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Chip Methodology & Automation (CMA) team to develop synthesis methodologies, automation, and scalable flows for Arm-based SoC implementation. The role works across IP, architecture, and product engineering to improve synthesis quality, power-performance-area (PPA), and time-to-market.

The engineer will implement and deploy synthesis features and automation, support front-end teams, and collaborate with implementation and product teams to ensure production-ready solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level (3+ years industry experience; typically 3–7 years).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and deploying synthesis methodologies, supporting front-end teams, and improving PPA via automation.

  • Develop and implement methodologies and automation for low-power synthesis and DFT insertion.
  • Collaborate with Implementation to improve and deploy the SIMPL synthesis tool and workflow.
  • Add features and hooks to the synthesis flow and enable front-end teams to run and analyze it.
  • Troubleshoot PPA bottlenecks and recommend power-user features to improve quality.
  • Support front-end teams with limited synthesis exposure to resolve issues and ensure a robust synth flow.
  • Work with advanced technodes to achieve efficient PPA across multiple nodes.
  • Deploy methodologies and flows to front-end teams for production use.

Requirements

The following must-have skills are required. A short list of nice-to-have skills follows.

Must-have:

  • 3+ years of industry experience in synthesis/implementation domains.
  • Proven expertise in low-power synthesis and DFT insertion.
  • Experience with advanced process technodes and PPA optimization.
  • Experience designing scalable techniques and automation for synthesis flows.
  • Strong triaging, debugging, and engineering support skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (implementation, front-end, product).

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with EDA vendor tools and vendor collaboration.
  • Experience with the SIMPL tool or comparable synthesis software.
  • Proven ability to build reusable infrastructure and automation.

Education Requirements
