CAD Engineer / Electronic Design - Munich (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Develop and support EDA/CAD tools and flows for CMOS IC design, physical layout, and verification. Work within the Munich design team to evaluate, improve, and debug both in-house and commercial toolchains used in production.
The role blends software engineering, CAD tool development, production support, and close collaboration with design and process teams.

Responsibilities
Key duties include tool development, production support, and project leadership:
- Serve as a subject-matter expert within CAD/EDA disciplines.
- Define and lead large projects to improve CAD flows and automation.
- Develop, assess, and implement CAD software and engineering applications.
- Evaluate, debug, and optimize in-house and commercial EDA tools and flows.
- Guide ML/AI implementation and integration into CAD flows.
- Provide training, documentation, and end-user support for tools and methods.
- Collaborate closely with design, process, and verification teams.
- Assess architecture and hardware limitations that affect CAD solutions.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and preferred experience.
- Must-have: Expertise in IC design CAD tools (schematics, layout, simulation, verification).
- Must-have: Strong programming fundamentals.
- Preferred: Experience with SKILL and Python; recent proven experience in C/C++, Visual Basic, Perl, or Lisp will be considered.
- Preferred: Experience applying AI/ML to increase analytical and problem-solving capabilities in CAD workflows.
- Helpful: Unix and shell scripting experience.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with RTL-to-GDS workflows and tools (e.g., Fusion Compiler, Innovus, PrimeTime, Formality, RedHawk-SC, SpyGlass).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with EDA flows for analog/digital verification, parasitic extraction, and design database/versioning systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Master's or PhD preferred in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Relevant coursework or equivalent experience in VLSI circuit design and software is expected.
