CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and support EDA tools and CAD workflows for integrated circuit design, physical layout, and verification. Partner with design, process, and engineering teams to automate processes, improve tool performance, and implement AI-driven capabilities that increase productivity and design quality.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience with IC design CAD tools and design automation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on building and maintaining CAD flows, leading technical projects, and providing support and training to engineering teams.

• Develop, evaluate, and enhance EDA tools and CAD workflows for IC design, physical layout, and verification.
• Lead complex technical projects and provide subject-matter expertise in CAD and design automation.
• Drive adoption and implementation of AI/ML capabilities across CAD flows and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with design, process, and engineering teams to improve tool performance, efficiency, and scalability.
• Deliver user training, documentation, and technical support for new tools and methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have skills and preferred (nice-to-have) qualifications are listed below.

• Must-have: 4+ years working with IC design CAD tools (schematic capture, layout, simulation, verification).
• Must-have: Strong programming fundamentals and experience in software development and automation.
• Must-have: Knowledge of VLSI design and CMOS circuits, including area, speed, and power tradeoffs.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Python, SKILL, C, C++, Perl, Lisp, Visual Basic or similar languages.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with RTL-to-GDSII workflows and tools (Fusion Compiler, Innovus, PrimeTime, Formality, RedHawk-SC, SpyGlass).
• Nice-to-have: Experience with AI/LLM technologies, agentic AI, analog/digital verification flows, parasitic extraction, or design database versioning systems.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
