Job Title

CAD/EDA Tools Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain software tools, flows, and automation used in design automation for hardware design, process design, and manufacturing. Collaborate with design and foundry teams to capture requirements, implement solutions, and ensure reliable deployment and testing of EDA toolchains.

Experience Level

Entry-level / College Grad. Typical experience range: approximately 6 months to a few years of relevant hands-on experience depending on degree and background.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, test, and debug software tools and automation for EDA flows.
  • Capture user stories and translate requirements into functional specifications and test plans.
  • Write production and test code to implement tool functionality and verification.
  • Automate build, deployment, and version-control processes; maintain CI/CD for tools.
  • Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing; troubleshoot and resolve issues in toolchains.
  • Integrate and adapt third-party EDA tools into automated workflows and production environments.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience (minimum):

  • Practical experience programming and scripting in languages such as Python, Tcl, or C++ (minimum ~6 months).
  • Experience working in Linux environments and using version control systems.
  • Ability to write test code and create automated build/deployment workflows.
  • Strong debugging, verification, and troubleshooting skills for software tools and flows.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys ICV, Siemens Calibre) and physical design flows.
  • Experience developing job management tools for distributed systems and automating processes via workflows and templates.
  • Knowledge of CAD software administration, deployment, place-and-route scripting, and DRC verification.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Master’s degree (with 2+ years of experience) or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another technical engineering discipline. Candidates who expect to complete the required degree by September 2026 are acceptable per the posting.
