Job Title

CAD-DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Chip Methodology & Automation (CMA) team in Arm's Solutions Engineering organization to develop and maintain DFT methodologies, flows, and automation for Arm-based SoCs. The role spans IP, architecture, CAD, implementation, product engineering and ecosystem partners to deliver production-ready DFT solutions that improve quality and time-to-market.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typical requirement: minimum 3+ years of industry experience in DFT implementation, methodology development, and flow integration for complex SoCs.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities focus on developing, integrating, and automating DFT flows and driving cross-team alignment.

  • Develop and maintain DFT methodologies, flows, automation scripts, and reference solutions for Arm-based SoCs.
  • Integrate DFT flows into end-to-end RTL-to-GDS and silicon enablement flows.
  • Collaborate with architecture, implementation, CAD, product engineering, customers, and EDA/technology partners.
  • Evaluate and enable new DFT capabilities with EDA vendors and technology partners.
  • Lead technical reviews, resolve integration challenges, and drive methodology improvements.
  • Guide engineers and contribute to the DFT and automation roadmap within CMA.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience are listed below; preferred background items follow.

  • Must-have: Minimum 3+ years of industry experience in DFT implementation, methodology development, and flow integration for complex SoCs.
  • Deep understanding of scan, compression, ATPG, MBIST/LBIST, JTAG/IEEE 1149.x, IEEE 1687, and hierarchical DFT methodologies.
  • Experience integrating DFT into implementation, verification, and signoff flows.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard DFT EDA tools.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills (Python, Tcl, Shell, or similar).
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to influence technical direction across cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with advanced-node SoC development, chiplet/multi-die architectures, or building CAD/methodology automation infrastructure.
