Job Title
CAD Developer, IR, Timing and Physical Design Optimization
Role Summary
Work on physical design from RTL to GDSII, focusing on IR-drop, timing and physical-design optimization. Join an ASIC physical-design team collaborating with P&R, DFT, SI, architecture and other groups to drive physical-friendly design and deploy optimization tools into production flows.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early-career. Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in CAD software and VLSI hardware design.
Responsibilities
Deliver algorithms and tools that improve chip frequency and power while integrating into physical-design flows.
- Invent and optimize methods to increase frequency and reduce power across internal optimization tools.
- Develop and improve C++ algorithms for IR-drop optimization and simulation.
- Participate in the full lifecycle from discovery and invention to implementation and deployment within design teams.
- Integrate with physical-design flows: synthesis, constraints, timing analysis/fixing/signoff, partitioning, and related checks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (ASIC/P&R/DFT/SI/ARCH) to enable physical-friendly designs.
- Write production-quality, high-performance software with attention to multithreading, memory and I/O efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Minimum 2+ years experience in CAD software and VLSI hardware design.
- Strong skills in both CAD software development and VLSI design practices.
- Understanding of IR-drop optimization or simulation and related concepts (constraints, corners, CCSP, FSDB, etc.).
- Demonstrated software development ability in C++.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with RedHawk and design flows scripted in Perl, Tcl, and Python.
- Experience with C++14 or newer (lambdas, concurrency).
- Experience in high-performance software design: multithreading, distributed computing, efficient memory and I/O use.
- Prior work on IR-drop optimization or calculation.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
