CAD and Integration Engineer, Silicon
Meta PlatformsJob Title
CAD and Integration Engineer, Silicon
Role Summary
Lead CAD and integration engineer responsible for defining and owning physical implementation methodology and CAD infrastructure for custom silicon programs. Work across circuit design, digital implementation, analog mixed-signal integration, and physical verification to deliver foundry-ready GDS for multiple tapeouts.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires 8+ years in VLSI CAD, physical implementation, or silicon design methodology.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include establishing CAD flows, integration practices, and automation to support tapeout schedules.
- Define and own RTL-to-GDS flows: synthesis, place-and-route, DFT, and multi-corner signoff.
- Lead analog mixed-signal physical integration, constraint authoring, and floorplanning.
- Develop and maintain CAD automation using Python, SKILL, and Tcl.
- Integrate AI/LLM-assisted tools into CAD methodology to improve automation.
- Drive physical signoff across timing, power, noise, and DRC to produce foundry-ready deliverables.
- Establish 3D/heterogeneous packaging and die-to-die interface planning.
- Partner with foundries on PDK qualification and design rule interpretation.
- Define low-power implementation methodology (UPF, multi-voltage domains, power analysis).
- Provide technical direction to engineers and report implementation status and risks to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed under "Nice-to-have".
- 8+ years industry experience in VLSI CAD, physical implementation, or silicon design methodology.
- Expertise in full RTL-to-GDS digital implementation flows using industry EDA tools.
- Experience with analog mixed-signal integration and interface management between custom and digital domains.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python, SKILL, Tcl, or equivalent.
- Experience communicating methodology decisions and tapeout risk to cross-functional partners.
- Nice-to-have: experience with 3D stacking/advanced packaging, PDK qualification, UPF-based low-power methodology, or AI-assisted CAD tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
